How To Repair LED TV No Picture- Singer Brand
The complaint of this Singer LED TV was no picture but have sound. Usually when I see this kind of symptom the first thing I do was to use a torch light to shine on the screen to check if there is any dim picture in it.
From the photo below, you can see that there was actually a very dimmed picture which indicate the problem is in the LED driver circuit.
Once the cover was removed, I could only see two circuit boards. It was the mainboard and the power supply/LED driver board. The power supply board has an output wires/cables that goes to the LED backlights.
What I did next was to measure the output voltage of the LED output connector. Once the power was turned On, it showed 31.8 volt DC then it went down to zero which indicated there was problem. This could mean either the LED backlight have problem or the LED driver /power supply board causing the voltage to shutdown.
From experience, most likely is the LED driver/power board is the cause of the problem. You can also confirm if the LED backlight is good or bad by using a LED backlight tester. So, I checked on all the components in the LED driver section but all seems to be working fine.
The only suspect left was the LED driver IC with the part number of MAP3204.
Below is the datasheet of the LED driver IC and you can view the full information from the link below:
I checked Ebay and from the local market and could not find such chip. What I did was to order a new power supply/LED driver board from Singer authorized service center- see the photo below:
Before I fixed in the board, I checked on the output voltage and it showed a steady 51.7 volt. And when I flipped the TV and looked at the screen, the normal picture came back which put a smile on me.
Conclusion- LED TV with no picture or no display symptom are quite common nowadays. Just follow and practice what I have shown in the article and you should be good in finding out the fault. If you want to be good in this field you can get Ken’t LED TV repair ebook.
