BG LED TV white screen

The complaint of this 32 inch LED TV was white screen with color vertical lines in a square box as seen from the photo below:

Before I opened the TV casing, I already knew that this kind of problem was usually due to the LCD panel, ribbon cable or the T-con board.

Once the cover was removed I could clearly see the power supply board and the mainboard while the T-con board was covered by a metal casing-see the photo below:

From the visual inspection it seems that all the circuit boards were fine until the panel board was exposed. I was shocked to see this kind of problem-see the photo below:

The panel PCB ribbon was burnt and this was my first time seeing such problem after had repaired many LED TVs throughout my repair career. To add salt into injury the other side of the panel board was also had problem-see the photo below:

I told myself there is no way to repair such problem unless if I have the Tab bonding machine and the parts but then again to repair such problem it will be very costly and I’m pretty sure the customer would not be willing to pay for the high cost of repair.

I can say that, even if you have the machine, it will not be 100% working after fixing the new ribbon because there must be a cause of why the area was burnt.

If you have read all my previous repair articles, I’m sure you can see the success in every repairs that I had posted but not in this case where I’m not able to fix it due to the reasons that I have mentioned above. If you have any comments about this situation I really would like to hear from you.

Completely understandable why this repair is costly ,timeconsuming and a big risk!
So would be buying a Tab bonding machine no doubt.

Good job, Suranga. Sometimes repairs are just not economical. Even if you did repair it, it may not last long because other components may have been weakened and soon fail thus making it more economical to just buy a new TV.

    Suranga,

About 90% vertical line problems In LCD are due to this cable system technology and around 90% equipment related to this technology is going to dumping ground every year.in CRT TV you can arrange any similar size tube and replace it with without much efforts.this type of design is waste of money and also waste of natural resources also.here in India there are labs available for this type of Screen repair but question is to carry and transportation the screen to that lab is very difficult it can easily get damage in transport.

I've seen similar damage many times, always on TV's having the T-Con and driver boards located at the bottom of the display instead of at the top. It's often caused by a liquid spill. In at least one case, a tom cat backed up to the screen and marked it for his very own. That was obvious from the odor. Other times, it happened when glass cleaner was sprayed directly onto the screen (instead of onto a cloth) and allowed to drip onto the driver boards. In those cases, the area smells of detergent. Was there any evidence that liquid spill in your case?
