A guy brought this LCD screen to my shop. It was completely dead. He guy explained that it was sitting in his shop for more than two years.

He cleaned his shop and found this screen and decided to get it fixed. Was it worth it? Let us see.

no power in lcd monitor

As you can see, it is 22 inch screen and it is made by Samsung. I really love this brand name because it is quality and that is why I decided to give it a try and get it fixed.

When powering up the LCD screen there was no indication of any life left in it. Took the screws off and gently took off the cover.

It was clean. I did not expect it to be that clean and that is a very good sign.

Upon taking the metal cover off, a spot got my attention and I am assuming it was a burnt area. I believe it was the cause of heat generated from the power supply area and its surroundings.

I got a closer look and that what I found after cleaning and rubbing the connection.

As you can see, it was a cold soldering joint and that joint was loose.  I had to put it under my microscope to see that loose connection.

After cleaning the area and soldered that joints, I could see the stand by light coming on. I pressed the power button but the screen did not come on.

Upon checking that power button, I noticed it was not sitting right in its housing. I fixed that issue and also spread some cleaning spray on it. Pressed it again and look what happened. It is alive again.
