Singer DVD Player Tray Can’t Fully Open
Customer sent to me this Singer SDV837S2VT DVD player with the complaint of the tray only coming out halfway.
Usually this kind of problem is due to broken gear or the tray assembly need servicing (preventive maintenance). See the photo below of the tray being ejected halfway only.
As usual, one has to open up the back screws in order to lift up the cover and to perform the checking.
In the below photo, you could see how is the “Tray” look like. The Tray is where the CD landed on its platform. This means, if the tray can’t be opened then you can’t insert the CD.
The DVD motor cap had to be removed in order to see what’s wrong with the assembly.
Now, open the tray manually with the help of a small flat tool. Be careful as not to break all the fragile plastic.
Once opened I could see that the belt was loosen and need replacement. I then cleaned all the wheel with soft cotton.
The tray running path also had to be cleaned.
Once the servicing and cleaning was done, I powered up the DVD again and this time the tray can be fully ejected. In this case, there was no parts being replaced. If you would like to learn how to repair DVD player you can check out this Ebook by Humphrey.

Thank you Mister Suranga. This repair could also
be a repair that XBOX360 Console DVD Drives
may need when trays do not open. (If it is not the magnet that became to strong which closes the Disc onto the Turnmotor. And inhibits the plateau from opening afterwards.) Once I also repaired a PC
drive that refused to eject. Replacing a bad NPN transistor fixed that.
