A Dead Electrical Bed Controller Brought Back To Life
A guy next door was waiting for me near my shop when I arrived. He told me that he has an argent repair matter and wants me to take a look to see if I can help out.
That is a bed controller that his dad has and for some reason it was not doing what is supposed to be doing. The customer said the power light does not come on.
As seen in the photo, there is yellow electrical tape around this wire and obviously someone tried to fix this device and had no luck with it.
The first thing to do was to take the electrical tape off and make sure everything is connected the way it should be.
All the wires were connected but it was not soldered but just twisted together. I did not think that was the main issue but part of the issue.
The first thing to do was to check the continuity of the wires and see if there are fine or broken inside. From the plug to the wires everything was just fine.
When I checked the continuity of the wires from the board to the other side of the cable one wire was bad and that was the green wire which is the voltage wire.
When I pulled on the green wire it came out and when I checked the end of that wire, there was dark burnt marks there.
I sliced through the cable and sure enough the other side of the green screen was just sitting there not connected.
I wanted to replace the whole cable but I could not find the right cable for it so I decided with the approval of the customer just to reattach the green wire and see the outcome.
The only way to test the device is only by attaching it to the bed and check if the control functions are back or not.
Before giving back to the customer, I re soldered all the wires back and added heat shrink tubing and connected back the way it should be.
I added another heat shrink tube on the outside of the wire to give it a better look and called the customer for pick up.
He took the device and walked to his house (he lives about five minutes away from my shop). Few minutes later I got a call from him informing me that is was working just fine.
The dad and the customer were happy with the outcome and I was so glad that I was able to help out.

Normally luckily the wiring on those bed controllers with din cable connection does not cause any problems.
Most problems with these cabled remotes probably occur after one of the pets at home peed on them causing shorting currents destroying the circuit. With corroded contacts afterwards and shorting switches. Which probably was what happened with my brother's bed controller in the past. And it often is detected after it is already too late to fix it.

Albert: in my case it was not due to a pet pite it was just corroded. The customer is not allowed to have any kind of pets in the house due to a medical conditions. have a blessed day

Substandard quality wires are degraded very early.

Yogesh: thanks man. all cables degraded in time no matter what kind of quality they are in and it has to be replaced someday but in my situation I could not find the right cable to be replaced with. I asked for a new cable but due to the war situation in my area it is going to take some time to get in. have a blessed day
