Most of time PWM IC are main culprit in SMPS Malfunction and some time IC does not have Mark on it & very difficult to Buy a single unit.

Thanks for your comments and observation.I thought it does not worth to investigate it since the smps is of poor quality in the sense that it does not have EMI block.

Interesting repair! I'd like to know what smd PWM chip was used here that was defect? I see the text ME8202? Is that the correct IC type?

Perhaps you would investigate the reasons for failure of the SMPS and share! Anyhow, good that you could fix it.
