A lady brought this musical keyboard for repair and the main complaint it does not come one.

It is a funny thing that I was about to plug the power supply to the power port inside the keyboard and right away I figured out the issue of this dead keyboard.

Take a look.

If you look to the photo very closely you would find the main issue of this keyboard; the inside pin of the power port was broken.

And guess where I found that broken pin?

I took off about 18 screws holding the back cover and once these were out the inside board was exposed.

I headed directly to the main board and took the power port off. I have plenty of these in my shop so I am ok with that.

I soldered out the broken power port and found the right replacement for it and I was ready to install it back on board.

I bought these power ports off the net and I have plenty of them with different sizes and shapes that supposed to fit most of the laptops and other devices. I am almost running out of them and I am ordering more soon.

I found this identical power port in my collection and it should fit perfectly on board.

Nice! I recently repaired one of my synthesizer/keyboards ... it would power on but no sound. I couldn't find anything wrong with the circuit. I cleaned up the contacts on the circuit board where various connections were made for the speakers, power, switches, etc. ... put it back together and now it is working, once again. I guess that the contacts were oxidized and cleaning them with isopropyl alcohol did the trick.

    Thanks for the post.
