Parasuraman: thanks man. yes it was nasty inside the drill but since he had an brand new to use I did not bother with the drill itself but focused on the power supply that provides the right voltages to operate. have a blessed day

Since both the drill and the adjustable voltage power supply were defect the drill motor likely destroyed the power supply. Why probably the primary fuse was still intact because of the power regulator chip that prevented more damage. Luckily the customer had a good working drill to test the power supply with afterwards, to make sure the repair was successful.

These drills collect dental plaque, blood and other hard particles whenever a procedure is done. Unless the drill is cleaned immediately after its use, this gets dried up inside and it would prevent free movement of the rotor. Then the torque increases and the motor would stop if there is a protection circuit or coil might get burnt. Well done!
