A Digital Remote Control Switch Repaired and Maintained
A guy working maintenance called me about repairing this digital remote control switch. He said that some buttons click fine and others do not on the sender remote and on the receiver device of the same system it takes a long time to switch from one source to another.
I got three of these devices in but I am showing the repair of one device only.
The main unit shows how to connect it to different light bulbs
and with the remote you can choose what comes on and what goes off.
That is inside the main unit and there are four relays and every relay control one source of light.
I found this 470uf 25 volts bulged and needed replacement so this might explain. The delay that the customer was talking about.
That is the remote control and according to the customer some buttons work and some do not so I decided to replace all the buttons inside.
A lot of technicians are willing to clean the buttons with button cleaning spray but since I have a lot of brand new buttons in the shop it would be much easier just to replace all of them and that is what I did.
I found these online so I bought a whole box of them with different sizes and they were very cheap to get.
So after the capacitor and the buttons replacement I connected a light bulb to the source and clicked the remote and this what I got. Check it out.
There was no delay on powering on /off and all buttons worked like a charm.
Mission Accomplished.

That was the correct solution to the problems. A cleaned switch would start malfunctioning again.

I have a set of those push button switches too and my guess is that the smaller these switches are the sooner they go bad. The larger 12x12 mm push button switches probably last longer and are more trustworthy because they suffer lesser from a button that is pushed in sideways instead of straight in.

Albert: all these bottons are the same size base and the only difference in size is the plastic piece that pushes the button. I appreciate your comments and have a blessed day
