A Laptop With Bad Female Audio Jack Replaced And Maintained. Model: Dell P75F
A Pastor and a friend of mine brought his Dell laptop for repair. It powers on just fine but the only fault was a bad female audio jack that a technician replaced one month ago and recently started to act up again.
This lap top is used frequently in a live audio broadcast and many users are using this device;
the customer thinks that is why the audio jack was faulty again.
As I took the top cover off and exposed the main mother board I headed directly to the audio jack soldered on that board.
First thing to do was to disconnect the battery then take the mother board out for check up.
It looks fine on the outside but inside the main pins were water damaged.
It was not what the customer mentioned about the cause of this faulty jack.
The best way to de solder this jack off board was to add a low melt solder and then apply heat and extract the jack off that board. As planned, the audio jack was out in no time.
The customer wanted this laptop as soon as possible and my main problem was finding such audio jack on a short notice. So I looked everywhere and I did a lot of phone calls to ask about such a device and sad to say I was not able to locate it locally. The only place I could find such a jack was the internet and that will take at least two weeks to get in the mail.
The customer was not happy about that at all and he told me to find any way to fix the issue. One of the guys that I called earlier called me back about this audio jack and said that he has a used but in excellent condition one. I called the customer to tell him about this and he agreed to it and was able to go to that place, pay for the part and bring it to my shop and I have to do was to solder it on board.
Since the replaced part was used, I checked inside the jack to make sure everything was ok. I had to do some cleaning there to make sure all the tips inside were shining and working. I installed the jack back on board, tested the device by listening to music through that jack and it seems it was working fine.

Getting the right replacement parts always will be a big problem. And it only will increase the need for good salvaged parts. Good job!

Albert: yes it was and it took me while to find even used one. I found some on Ali Express but I do not know that quality they are in. so using an original used part was the best way to go in this situation. have a blessed day

finding parts replacement for laptop is very difficult task, Majority Technicians using used working parts only.

yes it was hard to find to find good ones. I have seen some on Ali Exrpess but I do not know what quality they are in so the best way to go was using original but used part. it worked fine. have a blessed day
