About The Blue ESR Meter Chart

esr chart

I have some Blue ESR Meter buyers found it difficult to understand the chart readout printed in front of the Blue ESR Meter. Infact here is a link where you can use it for easy reference. Please Click HERE to visit the chart.

Hi i am still having problems understanding the chart i recived my blue esr meter today. but i am crap at understanding numbers. i tried out a 100v 1000uf cap i got .03 on my meter (meter has two decimal points e.g .0.0). is the cap bad or good. i am embarrassingly crap at reading and understanding numbers.

    HI RIZWAN,

It is a good cap if according to the chart and not the chart on the meter. It is easier to read from the above chart then the chart provided on the meter. If you refer to the chart you will not see the esr ohm value for 100v but you can roughly take the inbetween 63v and 160v esr value. Any value that is under the chart value is good.

Do you have a table with ESR values for higher voltage capacitors, specifically, 400V 100uF?

      Hi Daniel,
Sorry i do not have but you can use the chart in the link below to roughly guess the value:

      https://jestineyong.com/esr-meter-table/

A good 100uf 400volt should be less than 0.2 Ohm. Or the best compare with the a good one and jot down the value for future reference.

Could I copy the chart on the meter, then take a small ruler to extend the lines further out of the graph on either sides and then draw vertical lines to create a larger chart for measuring capacitors out of range of the original graph to interpellate what the approximate value should be or just make a list of new capacitors against the ones in or out of circuit to decide what is bad ?
