Another Question
“I have a question regarding the subwoofer repair.My sub woofer had a 13V1.8A transformer.Can I replace it with a 12V 2A transformer.The model is mercury SW980”-Santhosh
Hi Santhosh,
You can try as the amp is higher than the original. Usually design engineers will create some tolerance on their circuit they designed! -Sometimes in electronic repair we gonna test it out to see the result otherwise you have to get the same exact volt and amp which i believe it is not easy to get from the market. Market only selling the 12v, 15v 18v, 24v and etc transformer. Higher amp won’t burn the transformer in fact it will work better and less heat generated. When you get a 12v transformer and if you test it with your meter, some of it can reached 12.75vac which is very near to 13vac. Sometimes the tolerance are quite high in linear transformer!-Jestine

i want to ask that if i use a 12 v charger circuit inplace of this transformer will it work fine. The charger is of huawei ac/dc adapter Input : 230v-50hz 80mA Output : 12.0v (dc sign) 500mA

Hi Omprakash,
The output current is too small thus it is not suitable to use it.

hi i have woofer which is 12v*2*1.5A and 5 output wire and two input means total 7 wires now i buy a transformer 12v*2 and have 3 output wire how should i give current to remaining wires coz this new transformer has just 3 output wires

santosh... i do have the same sw980 as yours ...could you plss... share the internal wiring of the woofer..its kind of confusing in the inside...i had aproblem with mine... i just thought it would be helpful if i know the wiring inside....plss
