Excellent. The strange co-incidence is that I too escaped from a fire hazard caused by an FBT right under my nose! I am covering it in an article. In my case, the arcing with fire was splashing out. Good job there! Thanks for sharing!

Excellent service! These parts are most likely no longer sold in my and other European countries. A friend of mine tried to find older flyback transformers for old crt-sets but he could no longer buy them. It is incredible that some countries provide almost everything even including the rewinding of defect transformers.
In this case replacing the flyback transformer seems the only thing to do, but it would be safer also to check the output with a good HV voltage probe. These HV Probes are quite expensive but in Everyday Practical Electronics was an article how to make one. If the screen like you mentioned becomes larger or smaller that could be an indication the voltage is wrong and maybe too high generating X-rays instead. A higher voltages means a shorter time the faster emitted electrons are under influence of the tube's deflection coil.
