Are You A DIY Person?
DIY stands for Do it Yourself. I’ve heard that in certain countries, many of them choose to do things by themselves instead of relying on other people. There are many reasons for it, it could be they try to save the money, having fun in the learning process or not to dependent on other people services. Let’s take this for example, I’ve heard of many of my friends who came back from other countries said that the people prefer to service their own car instead of sending it to car mechanic. They bought the DIY books on car repair and begin to practice it on their own without any help from others. Unless they face a big problem in the car, then only they will send it to mechanic.
What about me? Well, i sent my car for mechanic to service and repair but for the household things, usually i will fix it on my own. From electricity, electronics to plumbing problems i will fix it on my own. I will buy the parts from hardware or electrical/electronics shop and do all my best to make it work again. I even paint my house too. If it requires cement work then i will engage a specialist to do it because I’m not a pro in this kind of job. What about you? Are you a DIY person? Thats me, "Do it yourself sometimes" . Like yard work, to work in my farm, my car, I hire guys and supervise. I think I grew up lazy. But now, I am changing because I know that I need the exercise. So this year and starting next I will start to do it more myself, so that I can sweat a little. This is for health benefits.

My father would frequently say,"If you want something done right, do it yourself." So, that is what I do but training is necessary. I was an Electronics Technician in the Navy, learned Auto Repair by making mistakes and reading manuals then I moved to Florida where just down the street was the County Vo-Tech training center with a real GM Training Center! They had night classes open to the public.
Carpentry and Plumbing were learned from books and doing it then getting jobs as a maintenance man. Computers came fairly easy to me but, again, books were an important part. I repair laptops now because no one wants to do it, very time-consuming and finding schematics is (was) impossible until I found the link to a site on your Blog, Jestine....Thanks!

Thanks for sharing your story. Many of my repair friends found that repairing laptop is a lucrative business and you have to keep up the good work on that field. Have a good day.
