Check the number written on the eye unit and try to fetch it from elec. spare shops. It is better to remove the eye unit and show it as a sample.

Somedays ago I had to use your e-caps method: the SMPS of my PC was behavioring in a erratic way, and the ESR of most of the e-caps was out of range, so I decided to replace all of them, and the SMPS has been working fine till now.

The focal distance of the lens should be within the specified limit. Like adjusting the azimuth of a tape recorder head, the position of the spindle which holds the CD at a fixed height should be adjusted to bring it within the reading focal position. The spindle may have to be lifted up or pushed down by trial and error method. In the factory, this is set by using alignment instruments. Hope it's clear now!
