If you have a cap rated 10uf then you need to select more than 10 uf which is 20uf. All capacitor have 10% tolerance. If you get about 10uf then it is a good cap. If you get 5uf, 3uf or even 1 uf then the cap is bad. I suggest that you check on the good cap in your spare part compartment to better understand the cap meter.

I found that the above cap meter was not really good. TES 1500 still the best. If you want to test any cap, find out the value first. Assuming if you are testing a 100uf then you have to select a range that is higher than 100uf which mean 200uf.
