Hi William,

I suggest that you direct replace the ICs as checking ICs with DMM is not accurate. The best is to direct replace and retest.

Have been working on a Tandberg 9000x tape deck and consider my self to be a newbie. Have replaced all caps ( except the three large ones which control the motors), transistors,a few resistors, transformer,all diodes and still have the same issues....the motors operate manually, no lights on the mode controls ( replaced the lamps ), none of the mode switches respond. Have not replaced any of the IC's, have checked with a DMM and all appears to have values between 500 and 700, but suspect this may be my issue. This unit has been owned by me since 1973. Any thoughts?

sony ta v725 no audio. stk4162ii. how to know a defective ic using only dmm. 30v dc present on left channel before the relay. relay doesnt click possible a protect mode. rigth channel doesnt have dc on output. i connected a small spkr direct on ic output and touch the pin18 input and has humm. could it be a sign that the ic is good? and other component might be causing the problem? any help will be much appreciated. many thanks.
