daniel: was it playing dvd's before and stopped doing that? if that is the case, then it must be the pick up lens. that would be my first guess.

Mugabira: you are most welcome. I only use alcohol and so far, it worked fine.. but use a very clean alcohol, we do not want any alcohol leftover on the lens.

Parasuraman: yes, I kick them out of the device under repair but using a mighty blower outside my shop..we do not want the living cockroaches to craw up my legs when I am doing any kind of repair..lol

But did not you transfer them you your own work place? I always do the opening and cleaning of all devices brought, outside my house, keeping it on my car porch! I use Hit to kill every such pests, if I notice it's presence! I remove even the eggs that will be stubbornly stuck to places hidden from easy view! Yes, it is indeed a painstaking job!
