Albert: the batteries were replaced with the same specs but the name is different. Energizer batteries, power banks are well know now a days all over the world and they are very good. i recommend them. have a blessed day

Battery going bad in almost all electronic devices is a common problem. What surprises me is that the manufacturers put a label 'leak proof', but is that a proof that it would certainly leak? (LOL) Good job there! I am sure you would have used IPL to clean the entire interior too!

Corrosion in those old NiCad rechargable batteries was very common. Luckily they are no longer used or sold! But I wonder what type of batteries you bought in the USA that you used in this repair. I do not think I ever have seen those types before?
