Very High voltage is passing through the wire to anode. Due to moisture and black dust collection, the wire will start arcing to the ground. The backside of CRT area is the ground. If you hold a screw driver which has a thick and safe handle, you can see arcing taking place! Normally, manufacturers do provide a separator. But in the process of servicing, sometimes technicians forget to put it back.

Thanks for the good and educative article Mr Parasuruman. However, my question is, why putting a plastic to separate the final anode cable from touching the crt surface? I understand that you did not explain this.

I never rejuvenated anything yet and certainly no crt tubes. But some gas tube displays from old VCR recorders or microwave ovens do also need to be restored this way some day. Another pro job you certainly may add to your great list of successful repairs Parasuraman! I believe you however left out the picture of the collection of defective components?

Oh! That usage of 'auto guy' denotes a person engaged in running Autorickshaws and lives on the income from it. Well, I realized now that many of such locally used 'reference names' might not be followed elsewhere. Shall take care. Thanks for bringing it up!

CRT TVs are still in use here in India. Many people have started returning to these, after experiencing the life of the LED/LCD TVs. The picture clariy is damn good too. In fact, I have refurbished a few CRT TVs and sold.

May i ask what is a auto Guy?
Living in the Netherlands a don't know what that's is. I know you in India are very clever people en innovatif.
I think a kind of service for people that don't have a car you van ask to move stuff.
Crt tv's are throwring away here. Nobody wants them any more.
Also we throw away so many stuff, is totaly madd. So bad for the environment! We create zo many ewaste in the Netherlands, in Europese. Most off the electronics stuff i have is repared stuff that was throw away.
