Good Idea sir, sometime it is not effectively work conical pointed soldering bit tip on desoldering wick,but works great using beveled ,chisel or knife tips depends on area to clean.

i found this cheap product for removing through hole components very effectively.

Agree with your de-soldering process & de-soldering iron with a vacuum pump is also good and cheap Option, Easy to use and clean rather than desoldering gun.

Good job there! Folding the desolder wick like a wire, holding it in the hole and applying heat and gently pulling out would clear the hole quickly and easily.

Good job! For a help, first, remove what lead free solder you can with your solder sucker. Resolder the component with lead solder, a fair amount as well. Then desolder with a solder sucker, most of the lead free will come out at this point, and the hole should be clear, however, there seems to be always that one that requires a second or third treatment to clear the hole. If at least one hole is clear, heat up the other post and remove the device. This will make clearing that hole easier using the above method. Tools make a real difference, if your doing electronics to earn money, buy a desoldering iron with a vacuum pump. Chinese types are getting very affordable and reliable!

Nicely done cleaning the through hole e-cap position using soldering iron & pointed needle! Which on these multilayer computerboards is never easy and requires enough solder heat and the right tools!
