You are Right Albert,
But as i said this unit is used by old age parents,They always not sure how to connect the Micro USB pin proper way & by putting pin wrong-way they applying more pressure & chances are high to damage the port again. I thought so too to put DC Jack by modifying Adapter but customer is in hurry because his parents are Traveling next day to the native and it used to take time to arrange parts too.so i utilize the parts i have for fast repair.

This way avoiding having to make another hole into the case. Since the usb copper tracks were all fine. And that also could be made mechanicle stronger by using some hot melt glue to make the micro usb connector firmly stick to the board if need be. And removing hot melt is always still possible by heating up the old glue.
