Digital Printer With No Printing Issues Repaired. Model: Canon Selphy CP1200
My Pastor asked me to check out a printer that he has in his office that no longer prints out photos and instead it shows error messages.
I never dealt with such printers with such issues but I was willing to search out the issue and come up with an answer to this fault.
I checked out the problem on line and sure enough, it is full of answers to such issues in such printer and the answer to this problem is actually a simple one, take a look.
There is a step by step direction how to solve this fault and it starts by moving the screws on the back of the printer and expose the main board and as you can see, someone has been in this printer because one of the flex cables was already disconnected.
Next step was to remove the actual printer from its main housing and expose the lower side of it because that where the fault is.
Since the printer was not actually pulling the paper to print out photos and sometime it end up with a message that there is a paper jam I headed to the motor (as directed by the repair video on YouTube) and right away I saw the fault.
There is a tiny screw holding the motor and when I unscrewed it out, the plastic piece fell off. It was suppose to be attached to the motor shaft so when spinning, it supposed to rotate the gear to pull in the paper and at the same time rotating the ink cartridge to do the printing but it was not doing that.
I took the motor out, added a tiny drop of super glue gel, put the plastic piece back on and waited till it dried then I put the motor back in.
As seen in the photo, the plastic piece is attached to the main drum where is supposed to be.
I put everything back together and tested it out the printer.
These photos are taken in my digital camera and when I inserted the memory card in the printer, it recognized the photo and when I hit print,
these photos came out and to that I could say, that I learned something today and
Mission Accomplished.

Nice job! Luckily the printer wasn't damaged in any way after the previous engineer had opened the device but couldn't find the real cause.

Albert: thanks man. I had that as a concern but I gave it a try and it was fixed. it is a common fault in such devices so the answer was there online if he bothered to do it. have a blessed day

That's a smart fix, I can surely say! Luckily the plastic part did not enter into other areas, not easily accessible!

Paris: yes indeed. that a factory fault because most of them has the same issue. yes, the gear was not broken but it was not engaging the other drum therfore not loading the paper to nor the ink to print. have a blessed day.
