Yes, oxidation in wire contacts plays a major role in this type of damage in circuits that draw high current.

Very nice job Imoudu! But I wonder why the pcb got so hot when it normally should have been protected with at least a fuse or a pull open serieresistor in the powerline that prevents such events.
