I am in Singapore, voltage is AC220v. I have a problem, I need a repairman or advice. My equipment uses AC110v, I use a AC converter but I accidentally set the converter wrongly. Equipment sparks. Tried again after changing converter fuse. Can't power on my equipment. Please advice.

Hi James,
Since after changing fuse doesn't help, try check the semiconductor components like bridge rectifier, power fet and even try replace the power ic and retest. If there is no output supply voltage from the equipment then i suggest that you check all components in the primary side.

Dear James, an axtra advice to repair your 110v machine. usually I deal with this kind of problem a lot especially with play station power supplies..usually work on 110 and people use it on 220..
here is what I usually do, the fuse is gone for sure..there is usually capacitors(no plarity)in the power supply to help in this kind of situaton..and I pet you that they are blown up..usually form the botton. take them out of the board and check them out.replace those along with the mos an fet and the capcitor just like what Jestine said and you should be fine..before I retest..to make sure there is not short left in the board..I use the light bulb trick..I hock it up to the fuse holder and plug the machine in..if the light blub lights up then it goes dim..you are ok to put the fuse back and tun the machine on but for some reason, the light still lights bright and does not go dim..you still have shorts in the board..I hope this helps.

I'm interested in such kind of tool, but I haven't so much money to invest on it. So I'm looking for a similar but cheaper solution, always Pc based... I hope to find it.

it seems that the other one is more basic. I suggest that you email the owner as he has more knowledge in this device and be able to completely explain between the two devices.

Hi Kwame,
Sorry there is no such machine that can just detect the tv fault. You need couples of good testers to find out the fault on your own.

Hi Julius,
May in know what kind of faults on panels? Multimeter can be used only on checking ac/dc voltage, amp, Ohms, frequency, checking components and few other features. If you want to check on waveform then you need an oscilloscope.
