I guess it can't do much harm Dicksy. To be safe I however would use one of those affordable microprocessor controlled more universal chargers that can charge both old NiCad and newer NiMH cells. I even have a couple of chargers that can charge 4 of those cells simultaneously including also 3.7V Li-ion batteries everything in AA, AAA, A or SC size: Type 26650, 22650, 26500, 18650, 18490, 17670, 17500, 17355, 16340, 14500, 10440. Like the LiitoKala Engineer Lii-500 charger. (Which in fact was the first repair I had fixed on Jestine's Blog. And was defect because 1 cell position had a wrong soldered coil connection internally and why it was given to me because the charger was partially bad when it arrived from Aliexpress).

This is a renowned brand and the cost is very high. The cost of service and battery was very worth spending to have the drill running.
