Fitting a U11 board is a very easy job to those who know what to do. But getting an equivalent board was the success in this repair story. It was sheer luck of the customer, that I can say! Many thanks for your comments!

Your techie friend caused the course of repair to change. He changed the repair direction as he availed a sister mainboard in the nick of time to replace the waiting U11 board. I otherwise had looked foward to reading about the twists and turns of fitting a different mainboard to a TV. I hope it doesnt seem like I dont like the article. Thanks Parasuraman.

Lightning can cause partial damages also. In microcontroller, separate sections are there. Normally, the video input section is what gets severely hit. Many thanks for your comments!

What wonders me and beat mine imagination is how a tv board striken by lighting can still produce standby voltage and other voltages as claimed by you, when we know lighting strike always damage emi circuit or fuse etc in the primary section of smps, which will eventually makes it impossible to produce secondary voltages....I stand to be corrected sir

This is a common issue when installing universal mainboards; it would be better if the companies manufacturing these boards also provided plastic faceplates that could be used to cover the external connector mounting points on the main board.
