Hi!
Well, hmmm, I'm a bit confused with this article and repair.
I have several questions:
- Is it a Flash memory or a ROM memory?
- what is the type of that whatever ic?
- how you find out the exactly one memory ic which is bad?
- what is the power voltage for that ic?
- what cos the data corruption?
- how do you recognized does the data is corrupt in the ic?
- could it be does the unit is still under error and the data
corruption will come back again soon?
- why you not asked the friend to send the dump of the ic by mail and not
programmed it with a programmer? it's easy and simple to reprogram this ic.
- if this is a common problem on this type of TV with this type of board,
I assume you made a copy of the data from the new ic from your friend,
for future repairing of this kind of problem...

So, I assume from my experience from the field of eeproms, flash memories, cpu
etc. does this ic is a 64M-bit serial flash memory. The vendor is Winbond and the type of this small device is W25Q64FVSIQ.
This device can be programmed by the nice and cheap TL886 programmer.
The power supply voltage for this tiny ic is from 2.7V to 3.6V.
I assume the customer or the service guy tried to make a firmware update on this tv unit and uploaded a wrong version of firmware. In that tiny flash memory is the firmware of the tv. If a wrong firmware is uploaded the tv is actually bad.

Ok, I appreciate your article and thank you for sharing that kind of info, but I don't recognized your thinking logic and the path how you made that repair.
Otherwise ok, a good article but with many secrets.

My best regards.

Thanks for the good article Suranga. I have a similar kind of problem with my Sunray4 Sim2 Dreambox 800HD se satellite reciever with Wifi module that after a year now has a memory problem in the SIM flash or Nand memory chip(s). Yassinov's optiflasher and Sunray Flashup report errors in memory sector 3. So it is now bricked and without any matching replacement parts or the right flash info can't be fixed sadly. (111 euro gone now! Reciever was bought in China almost 12 months ago, and the Seller gave no warranty whatsoever after my message!).
