Heating Up and Shutting Down Problem In Massage Device Repaired
A massage therapist brought his device for repair and explained that it keeps shutting down and he cannot hear the fan spinning.
I have worked on this device before and now it has a different issue.
Once I opened the top cover and took the fan off for inspection, I noticed that the fan was not spinning.
The fan gets its power from the socket marked with the arrow and once I checked that with a multimeter, there was no voltage reading there.
I traced the fan socket lines all the way to an IC that was suppose to supply this fan with 24 volts but the IC was not doing its job even when the device is on for a long time. That is why the device was shutting down due to overheating and the fan was not running to keep the device cool enough for operation.
Sorry I did not take a photo of the IC but when checked it online I could not find it anywhere so my other option is to modify the device.
The power supply was supply the 24 DC output to run the device so I soldered the fan directly to these lines (forgot to take a photo of it, sorry). That means when the power button is pressed on, the fan will be on the whole time. If I found the IC replacement I would have fixed the issue the way it should be but a modification was required at this time.
Once the connections were made and the power button was pressed, the fan was running fine and smoothly.
The technician came and gave it a test and he was pleased with the outcome and to that I can say a job well done.
