But if you check the fan motor the wires are not insulated and can’t the wires difference. How do you find the common wire? I also see 6 wires coming from the fan motor winding. 3 of them are switch lines 1 is neutral line the other 1 is common like. What is the sixth line?

Resistance values between common wire and other wires, should be same as yours or it can vary? i got different values.

I opened the speed selector and a lot of component feld. And I dont understand how to put it bad together. Does somebody got some video or an tuto on how it was inside before to open it please??

I have a pedestal fan that locks the the shaft of the fan at any speeed setting. it rotates freely when the motor is off. When its turned on...it hums and locks the shaft. I checked the capacitor and it is at 1.8 microF which is about right...

What do you think about this issue? Again the fan turns freely when is off.

I have a National stand fan had a spark when i turned it on. I found that the coil wires had a short but still intact. The wire insulator fused caused the spark probably caused by heat. After changing the wire, 1st and 2nd speed works but the 3rd speed acted weird. It spin fast for a few seconds and then stopped or moved very slowly, as if it is jammed, but the spindle moves freely when stop. Can anyone point out what could be the reason for it. Thanks.
