How To Fix A Remax Welding Machine
A welding machine salesman brought this welding machine for repair. He explained as the welding technician was welding at this shop, he heard a popping sound and the machine stopped working.
It is not the expensive kind but good enough to get it back to life the salesman explained.
The layout of the board is almost identical with a welding machine this size usually but the main parts numbers are different.
This is a double board welding machine and in order for me to get to the electronic parts in between the boards,
I have to de solder them away from each other and check the parts.
It was not the best de soldering job but finally I managed to get the two boards separated and exposed the inner soldering joints.
When I started to inspect the board, I found this cut in the trace that connects to the main capacitors on the other board.
And in the same area I found a cold soldering joints that needed some attention and once this was soldered the way it should be, I moved on to the other fault connected to the burnt, cut trace that I found earlier.
I found this broken trace under one of the main capacitors and I had to solder off two capacitors to fix the fault then later on I added UV mask to cover the exposed wires.
I traced where the burnt broken trace go to and I soldered a jumper and then soldered the two boards back together because that is the only way to test the machine.
Of course I did a full check up of the area before soldering the two boards back together and hoped for the best.
I was so glad to see the reading on this multi meter otherwise I have to take the board apart and look for other faults. Of course this reading is a little bit low since the machine was powered through a current limiter but when I powered it through a usual house power, it was showing over 75 DC volts which are perfect for such machine.
Mission Accomplished.
