Albert: yes they are very hard to be replaced that is why I keep old parts in my shop and never throw them away. it was not a car CD player it was a home cd player and yes he was happy that it got fixed. the tape player was too complicated to repair especially they are a lot of parts missing..so I did not bother with it. thanks for sharing

Those older player trays are hard to get when they need to be replaced. Like new replacement laser units. And adjusting them especially on for instance a Playstation 2 is harder too because those players have more heads for gaming and separate dvd playing. The owner must be happy that you were able to fix his car cd player. And maybe his cassette tape player was fixable too?

I fixed a similar unit (Sony) and got a silicone rubber belt in the hope it lasts longer.
