I could not get any sense of scale looking at the pics.
How big is the cap you replaced?
What sort of solder paste (not many of us amateurs have it on hand) & what tool to manage the solder process.
Finally how to check before reassembly.

simply use a 1.5mm solder wire and soldering iron, you can learn more about soldering techniques: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5uiroWBkdFY

soldering work can't speed up your laptop, here i'm showing a problem about power supply of vcc_core, but you can upgrage your memory to 2GB one module per slot and use Intel Pentium M processor 780* (2.26-GHz, 533-MHz FSB, 2-MB L2 cache)

THERE IS A SOFTWARE SOLUTION!!! I had a BSOD problem with an old notebook Toshiba Satellite series(probably L300 or something like that) but the BSOD was only when it was working with adapter (and with the battery only there were no problems). I went in device manager while only on battery and disabled the CPU (processor). What it does is not really disabling the CPU but disabling the real-time dynamic change of cpu frequency which indeed was causing the problems. After the restart the notebook was working with the adaptor. The only drawback to this solution is the CPU will work only at MAX FREQUENCY which could cause overheat if there are other problems like dust, damaged fan or thermal module.

Check first the software in default audio by your laptop
      Go to Start menu
      Control Panel
      Find the Sound icon
then Click it to the Icon
and there is pop up settings of the sound
you can see if there is Speaker default or Realtek Digital output
if the speaker is by default double click
the Speaker Properties will pop up
unthick the disable the sounds effect
and click Ok then to listen the audio of your laptop Play some audio

My son has a Toshiba L305 s5937 which had all the problems outlined and remained that way for more than 8 months; then I replaced the capacitors with new ones which I ordered online and now the laptop is working great. This shows that the "nec\tokin" capacitors were actually the problem and this was after I changed, adaptor, power jack, clock battery and tested the main board several times.
