HP LaserJet 3030 – paper jammed
Today I got a call from a company and they have a HP LaserJet 3030 MFP who will not print and all the time eat the paper. I went to the company to see what’s the situation, try to give a diagnose and maybe a repair solution.
When I opened the cover of the printer where the toner is located, I saw in the same moment what could do the paper jamming.

The problem is with the toner aligning plastic on right side. When I opened the cover I saw that plastic was misaligned and the toner was misaligned too because of that plastic. The paper should be transferred in front of the toner, but if the toner is misaligned, that could alter the path of the paper and jam.
After inspection I realized the problem was caused by a broken plastic clip, which was holding the alignment plastic. I decide to open the right plastic cover, to see if there an option to drill a hole and put a tiny bolt to fix the plastic. However, after I disassembled the right cover I saw there was no option for drilling.
Now I put some hot glue behind the plastic and cover the spacing screw. I used the hot glue just to keep tight the plastic on the wand of the printer. The spacer screw will hold the plastic inline even under pressure when the toner is working or changed, and the hot glue will act as a shaking absorber, I hope so. I tried to gently bump the printer on the right side to see would the plastic in liner fall down, but it did not moved anyway.
The printer is printing fine but I will advice to change the printer in nearest future. I cannot guarantee how long will this hold, but in a situation where the printer must do the job until a new printer arrives, it will be ok.

Thank you Mr.Christian Robert Adzic. Nice fix. I myself only use a Brother Inkjet Printer at Home that only has a terrible bad constructed plastic paper cassette. (Just inserting a sheet or 2 without removing the paper holding cassette is never possible which I think is a construction design disadvantage).
But if someone with a Laserprinter has this kind of problem, your fix could be the answer.

Hey Christian, thanks for an informative article. With everything made out of plastic now a days, things are bound to fail. They are not built to last. You have done well to bring the printer back to life and save it from the rubbish tip (even if only for a short time)

Good work.......Sometimes you have to improvise in order to get the unit working.....and to be quite honest, this repair will probably outlast the printer itself....Keep up the good work......
