IBM ThinkCentre Mini PC Repaired- Power OK But No Display
Received IBM ThinkCentre PC for No display problem.
Connected the PC to my setup & turned it ON – on startup I heard two Beep sound with front panel LED Lights “ON” indicates Power Process is Ok but there is nothing on the screen.
So for further inspection I opened the Unit.
Found Inside very dusty….
Removed Hard disk to see beneath……found some corrosion on CMOS Battery.
Further Removed CPU Heatsink to found the status of the area
Found layer of dust.
So first of all I dismantled everything & cleaned it thoroughly.
After putting back everything I checked CMOS Battery. Which shows 0v instead of 3v
A faulty battery removes all of your boot settings. In BIOS if you have another Display connectivity type selected and your BIOS has reset to default settings, your display setting turn to Default Mode & sometime it causes the No display Problem symptom.
So Replaced New Battery.
Now connected the unit on setup & Turned it on & now I Got the display on the Screen. Customer requested me to connect it to his place & check Because his person was on leave.
Customer is located my nearby Building so I went with him & Connected the Unit as it was.

Nice repair on one of these modern mini pc's. It shows that without the 3V lithium battery nothing will work as expected. Not even the online browser will work because without the right setup time and date connecting to any internet website is impossible! (odd to see that your 3V battery showed 3V3 on your DMM. As most of my CR2032 cells only measure 3V at max!).

PS: Although most of my older used 2032 battery cells are just about 3V when measured. New batteries indeed measure upto even 3.4V! Although they are confusingly marked as being only 3V lithium batteries.
