HI Davey,

Thanks for your comment and sharing. I still love those days where there were parts and schematic easily available from the market.

This tester seems very basic and presumably only does go-no-go tests, it will be better than nothing however.
I used to work for an organisation that had a Tektronix transistor tester. This machine would plot the characteristics of transistors on a cathode ray tube and the graphs could be made to show where the device started to run away (the graphs start bending upwards) Nobody else used the tester, maybe they didn't know how to drive it and in the end the management threw it away! Duh! Everything is becoming throw-away nowadays as the cost of repairing things in high wage countries is very high. As to domestic equipment repairs, it is just not possible to compete with the Chinese factories especially when there are no circuit diagrams. In the end the people become throw-away items as well but that's life. Some things will always need repairs as throwing away such things as CNC machine tools, ships and trains is not really economic although cars have been thrown away for years because of drive-by-wire faults. A common scenario is for the Engine Control Unit data to be "daisy chained" (looped through) the OEM radio. This is done to adjust the radio volume when the engine power is high. The ECU data then leaves the radio and goes to the Diagnostics Socket. Problems can occur years after some dork changed the OEM radio. At first the radio works OK and the car works OK. Problem is that years later when the "Check Engine" light comes on and the car stalls there are no diagnostic signals at the test socket. Technical Support is a very difficult job and I always envied doctors who only had to learn one "system" that came in two versions. As the same model has been around for 100,000 years they only have to learn it the once! Good luck anyway.

Wow another test meter for easy testing. Sir i have a question can a capacitor in parallel circuit the value is 1000uf 6.3v and one of this is bulged can i substitute 1000uf 10v in one of the capacitor that is bad or it must be exactly 6.3v because it is parallel. does it has effect if i put the 10v rating. it is the video card of a computer.Thank you sir. God bless you.
