Laptop LENOVO Repaired
This laptop brand LENOVO Model 3000 C200 was brought to me this weekend by a friend of mine with the complaint it was working with some troubles: freezing constantly and turning off from time to time.
It was disarmed in the bottom step by step:
When the fan was dismantled into pieces look what appeared.
A great amount of dust was seen in shape of lints.
All this stuff was cleaned, including the fan and the surround areas. The RAM Modules were cleaned with a Pencil Eraser.
On the other hand the Microprocessor was covered with Thermal Compound.
As you can see the cooling of this equipment was in a rate of approximately 0%, and with all the actions taken with this equipment, the cooling could be nearby a rate of 100%.
When the device was armed again, and turned it on; it really worked for a long time in the presence of the owner for about 45 minutes perfectly, till we decided to turn it off.
Laptops are compact devices, and when cooling is insufficient the temperature rises up a lot and it creates instability in its behavior.
Conclusion: Remember this kind of device is very compact and needs a Preventive Maintenance like PCs.

Nice cleaning job Humberto! I always use an air-compressor
to dust out the entire inside of electronic devices including
tv's and desktops. It is quick and easy. Only when cleaning out
Eee pc's with those tiny little Fan's one has to be very careful
because the blades are very brittle!
I had my share of laptops and once even encountered completely short
circuited Memory modules! And my share of burned out laptop
mainboards like the Asus Laptop in one of my previous articles.
That not many people even would consider to repair if they ever were
able to. Cleaning of the Memory module goldplated connectorstrips with
a pencil brush was never needed. Those contacts only needed
cleaning when some sort of corrosion was visible. It's a bit of a
shame that laptops and desktops now have the VGA video chip and the
video memory integrated on the mainboard. Before Acer and other laptop manufacturers had the Video Card on a replaceable Module. Which now
makes it harder to repair them when the in- or external Video signals
are absent.

Yes Albert, you are right, the blades of these kinds of fans are very brittle, and we have to take care when we are handling this kind of device.
On the other hand I have my own Air Blower brand DATAVAC that I use in PCs and Laptops, and the Thermal Compound as well.

My suggestion to everybody for this type of dust cleaning work please use "Dust Mask" to avoid triggering of dust allergy.

My Dell Inspiron 17R is 3 years old now. The external speaker jack is getting loose and scratchy so I'm going to take the MOBO out soon and see if it needs re-soldering. I'll do some preventive maintenance also and put some fresh thermal compound in it. I doubt if I'll write an article about it unless I find another problem or something of interest.

Thanks Albert. It doesn't bother me anymore when they dislike my comments - I guess I'm used to it. I should have called it a headphone jack port, so maybe that is why they disliked it. lol

I've seen the same many times. I wonder if it isn't from people using their laptops sitting on the bed. Maybe that's where a lot of the fuzz comes from.
