LED Dance Floor Light Repaired

This leds device was brought to me by an event organizer woman with complaint of deadness. Received it and open it from front, removed the smps and it’s control board. This device uses 24V both for 24v fan and it’s control board. To check if the control board is still intact, I connected 12V external power to it and the 54 leds lit dimly, so no issues with the control and leds.
So my attention now focus on smps board, on cross examinations, I found that fuse is blown!! On further investigation, 2 out of 4 of bridge rectifier diode were shorted mosfet(5N60), power ic, X3 1R0 smd resistors connected in parallel were all burnt.
One diode (SB5200) on secondary side was also shorted.
This device is one of those bad quality product, see the label at the back.
As we all know this bad quality smps power ic are sometimes not available which can make it irreparable if we don’t have power module. So i desolder out all burnt, shorted components and replaced shorted diode on secondary side with SR100 since I don’t have the original in stock.
I have 4 wires power module which I connected red wire to positive of tank capacitor, black to negative of tank cap, yellow wire to positive of secondary output capacitor, blue to negative of secondary output capacitors.
Then power on smps and red led on secondary side lit and almost immediately went off, what went wrong? Again bridge rectifier shorted, so I thought since the power module has its independent feed back circuit, I decided to remove all feed back components on primary side of smps and all those connected to pwm ic. Having done this, replaced the four diodes of bridge rectifier again and also replaced 400V/68uf cap with 400V/47uf, connected 100V bulb to the fuse points(fuse removed). Then power on the smps and red led lit and stable.
Then adjust secondary output voltage to 24V by turning potentiometer on power module gently clockwise. Then load it with an external 24V fan and for some minutes and it worked perfectly.
So I assembled everything together and tested the device for about one hour, it performed perfectly . These leds light changes to different four colours. This is the finished repaired work.

I still haven't used any of these universal modules. And if I understood it correctly you used your 4 wire universal power supply module to fix the led dance light. Which probably only works after removing the original pwm chip and or feedback circuit parts from the original smps unit. Good job done! You now probably need to order a new universal power module.

The power module can also be used for lcd/led tv psu, voltages between 5-24v.
