Lenovo laptop with display problem repaired
Received Lenovo laptop with display problem as stated by the customer screen light is coming but only white screen with some lines-see the photos below:
I have connected the laptop on my external monitor for confirming the fault area either it is graphic chip or screen related area.
On connecting to my external monitor I found display is very clear without any problem that means suspected parts is LVDS Cable or Screen itself.
For further inspection I have opened the laptop and checked LVDS cable by removing and reconnecting but there is no change in symptom so now I suspect screen itself.
I have one HP laptop with me of the same size I.e.15.6” whose motherboard is not repairable so I have buyback that laptop for the spares. So for just getting the chance; I have opened Hp laptop for takeout the screen for the testing if I can.
In this process you have to check the LVDS Cable socket size and numbers of pins on the screen circuit for consideration prior of testing. So I took out the screen for finding the possibility for testing.
I found it matches physical dimension and socket specification both are 40 Pins. These both are LED screen with the same connector type so I connected the screen to the laptop and powered up.
And I got this display on the screen-see the photo below:
Display is clear & crisp, so I have ordered the new screen and fixed the problem.

Quick fix Yogesh its always good to have lots of old and new spare parts in the workshop.

Sir,
This is my personal opinion everybody who are in this field should keep as much as old spare parts in their junk box and segregate it in different plastic boxes, if you are serious about Electronic repair field.
Specially SMD components which are now a days very difficult to get it as a single piece.

Good work mr Yogesh.I would like to ask you if Lenovo G50 laptop with integrated processor from CHINA MADE can be repaired with display and power issues.Because many hardware technicians told me they cannot be repaired.I WOULD NEED YOUR TECHNICAL ADVISE SIR.

In some Circuit there are some limitations because of the Technology.
it required special LAB with verity of equipment and tools to carry out repair work and of course repair cost is expensive too.
most of cases Power relate issue are Repairable.

Good straightforward professional repair Yogesh. Keeping spare testparts at hand is indeed always a very good idea. Even if those parts do not qualify to be sold as good replacement parts, they still are of great use to solve these kind of repairs.

It is a great shortcut and timesaver when you find another brand part that you can test out faults with and narrow down the search for the trouble so you can order the correct part the first time. Thanks for the article.
