My dad purchased this set in 1994, it was all working till recently its stopped. I cleaned up the system, fixed the cd input (a simple dry solder issue) and tape mechanical assembly.While the Radio/tuner, phono and CD are all working (though the sound a bit low) the tape deck is not producing any audio. There are no service manual available for this BPL Sanyo India model Cwx 69. Ifound a datasheet for Sanyo DCX49 for another region similar to this model, however as per the data sheet there is a pin voltage difference for one of the input pin in IC001 4069UB hex converter, due to which there are two pin voltage difference in the IC501 LA3246 preamp section. Because there are no exact datasheet available for this model - not able analyse whether any of the IC is faulty

Dear Sir,
I was gone thru the article with great interest. Because I worked with BPL audios . I was specialised in Audios and Remote controls and later promoted as TV technician. 2002 I left BPL and AV industry.
I owned a some tape recorders including BPL. Now I am restoring my old systems. But unfortunately I forgot most of our commonly used terminologies.
while I went thru your article I have seen that Tape drive mechanism, I struck on that because by those days we used a name for this mechanism( Sanyo or Philips mechanism ). I couldn't recall the name from my memmory. Kindly share me that name with me .

Dear Sir,

I liked your article a lot. I have a CWX 79 system which is still working. However, when I switch it on after a few days, the source selector switch does not work and gets stuck in the TUNER selection. Only after a 10-15 minutes I can select other sources such as tape deck etc.
I assumed it to be capacitor problem and after opening, I saw a big capacitor near the LCD display half burnt. Can you please tell me if it is the problem? I am not an electronics expert and I do not want to send it to a radio mechanic as I have sentimental values attached to this set.

Sir, Absolutely stunned to see your knowledge. I also own CWX79 since 1996. In 2010 it's remote got damaged and I'm missing the motorised circular volume control knob movement with red LED on it. In lockdown period, ihv opened unit for cleaning. By mistake some wire got loose or due to cotton cloth with Colin got touched on Radio Pcb & now LCD display is not working. Fortunately Radio is working but not able to see digits. Sir, if you know any specific person/service station in Hyderabad, Plz let me know. Thanks a lot in advance. Regards... Hello Sir, I had a CWX59 with me. The cassette deck was damaged and not working. I was using it as an amp. but later the amp unit was sold out to someone by my dad. i still have the speakers of this unit with me. The speakers of CWX59 are smaller compared to the CWX69. The speaker comes with a woofer and a tweater. I dont want to give away this awosome speaker unit, would like to buy an assembled amp for this speaker. can you sujjest me the power rating for the amp i need to buy. I am from the state of Kerala.

I just cannot understand what's terminal strip! But if that's something like the power plug69531947833, yes, we have. But disconnecting and reconnecting it two to three times in a day during the monsoon season, is impractical!

I have my equipment plugged into 3 different terminal strips. So I just disconnect the terminal strips from the wall. You don't use terminal strips?
