A very interesting repair. Is there a good way of protection against thunder strikes through the use of electronic devices? be it small scale or large scale? I will very much love to hear from our Papa's in the house. Thanks

Those modern electronic and other telephone devices are normally not fixable after a direct lightning struck. Mostly because of the DTMF chip that is completely destroyed. The customer was lucky you were able to pinpoint the defect on the bad capacitors. Only those old T65 Telephones survive a direct lightning struck by replacing two bigger diodes on the input lines. After that the phone operates like new as if it was never hit by lightning before!
