Made UV Lamp for Curing UV Solder Mask
UV solder mask is common in mobile & any electronics repair used to insulate open trace or jumper wire. Just apply the UV liquid mask on open wire or trace & put the LED Light over it, UV liquid Mask gets harden in one Minute and the open wire is gets insulated. I ordered UV Mask & tried to do curing using Single 5mm UV LED But I have to use the thing in proper manner. It is my hobby to make things which I can use as per my comfort & under the minimum investment by using things from my junk boxes.
So for this hack I used veroboard type PCB, UV LEDs & old non repairable LED Bulb plastic Body.
Veroboard type PCB Having Rows of trace & General Purpose PCB or Typical zero PCB Having Dots.
First of all I worked on the diagram how to arrange the LED so that I can utilize it proper way without wasting light coverage on targeted area.
In LED Diode you can easily find out +ve & -ve terminal of the LED.
Now I have to arrange the LED on the PCB so that it can cover at list 2 inch diameter. So I cut the PCB in 2 inch diameter.
And as per the designed I started the work. I took 5 Nos. of UV LED & start to solder by arranging it as per the circuit. I arranged the LED for parallel connection so that supplied voltage to each LED remains same.
“Remember to cut the Traces as per requirement if using veroboard type PCB.”
Here I decided to use VEROBAORD Type PCB and not used Zero type because in Zero type PCB Trace pad is easily get damaged while soldering.
I light up the lamp Using 18650 Laptop battery cell. Cell showing 3.2V on meter because it was not charged recently. It light up very well. Then I thought each time it is not possible to use chargeable Battery instead why not put it on USB Charger adaptor easily available in the home.
So just for testing purpose I connected this unit on mobile charging adaptor & it lit very bright and suddenly goes off………………….sometime in hurry we miss the principle. Yes all LEDs are blown off because I have not limit the inrush current to the LED. (Whenever we put LED on higher than its permissible voltage we have to limit inrush current by putting Resistor).
This UV LEDs normal working voltage is 3V and 20mA Current limit. Excess Voltage & current burn out the LED. So I decided to replace all the LED with using 100Ω resistor on each LED. Used on-line LED resistor Calculator which Guide you what value of resistor is required for particular voltage supply.

Now added Micro USB Socket on the PCB
By fixing PCB in the LED Bulb Body powered it using Mobile charger adaptor & it lit up perfectly.
I kept the unit “ON” for 30 minutes it works great without heating.
