Dear Philip:

Thanks for your detailed comments! There are other feedback circuits to the uController from this board and not just over current sensing of LEDs alone. The LEDs are controlled for its brightness automatically for which it has to be connected to the driver IC. If I put a separate LED driver, Sony set will not work. It will go to standby mode. Sony sets incorporate a lot of protection methods and we cannot bypass one section entirely. Hope this helps!

Please teacher Parasuraman excuse me if I'm wrong. The moment your techie friends adviced you not to replace the LEDs, my understanding is that its the LEDs that were failing and so causing the TV restarting. So how come that after carrying out a successful modification repair the LEDs were retained ?. Why didnt you instead install an LED driver module in any case, and do away with the rest of the circuit, as you oftenly do ?. I'll try hard to read again the articles hard parts to even half-understand it. Teacher Parasuraman, dance always, dance until you start laughing at yourself, for it is a refreshing exercise and good health habit.
