Yes that was true but some board do not have the board location label and some company (i came across one company that sell UPS)purposely remove/erase the part number not only to transistor but to ICs too. This will make the repair technician have a hard time in fixing the UPS.

					<description><![CDATA[test the part and the reading should tell you if that is a mos N fet or a transitor. for mos n fet, I always use Buz 90 and it works every time. also the reading on the pc board should tell you what it is  and where is the source, drain and gate. 
I never came across a part that does not have numbers on it. so far so good.
