It is obvious. Since there was no replacement of the tray or the drive unit possible, and the original eye unit was incompatible with new drive unit, a new drive unit with its own eye unit was used. Please read the following in my article 'The only way now was to connect another mechanism with its eye unit. So I bought a new tray of Alpine and eye unit of Sanyo:'

Well done Parasuraman! Finding an identical DVD Drive is always a problem when the Player is an older type, and as in this case also a slim plateau Drive.

I had a Region Free DVD Player that was great until the special Player (with integrated Video Decoder Board!) stopped playing. A Cyberhome CH-DVD 402 DVD & mp3 Player that can't be bought or found anymore. Neither replacement drives. So it was the end of my Cyberhome. Replacing it by just any normal DVD Drive won't work.

I never heard the slogan, that a technician’s job is to achieve the result by hook or crook, and face the challenges of any kind!, before. But it's probably very true in these circumstances. Thanks!
