Hi!
I came to this webpage searching for a way to fix the HP LJ 3030 I've got for free. The person who gave it to me told me that the printer doesn't work at all. I tried to see what's wrong with the printer. It could be turned on but after powering up the display told me to power on power off, the solution to fix this was the one I found on the net- cleaning the mirrors of the scanner.
The problem I cannot fix is that the print comes out as blank page. I assume the drum is not charged since it is not loaded with toner at all. I checked the status of the big capacitors but they seem to be OK.
I'm suspecting Q337 and the diode D371 (I tested the diode with a multimeter and it is not conducting at all) the same with the diode D351. Both diodes are marked with a continuous ring and a dashed one, text marked -08 (or 80-). Could anyone tell me what type is the diode?
and the transistor (equivalent component)?
BTW, the cartidge is the same as the one in the CANON LBP2900B, and I think the power board should be similar.

It was strange to me too, 6 pins was shorted but the main fuse was not blow up.At that time I had no datasheet and I can't do I deeper forensic, just analyzing and separate good parts from bad parts. I found no other parts shorten or out of its tolerance range in the whole circuit where that "nice" IC was and I decide to replace the IC and BINGO! the printer was alive again.
Maybe I had a lucky day, I don't know, but the printer is working after the repair... 🙂

I find it rather strange that this IC was shorted out in six pins yet the fuse remained intact.

Thanks for sharing your repair.
Sometimes the only diagnostic path is once you have eliminated any working components, then the faulty one is the one that remains. It is a tough call on ICs, especially when you have no datasheet.
