On Screen Display (OSD) Problem

By on June 2, 2009

Recently i got an email that asked about how to solve intermittent OSD problem in his Television. The OSD intermittently appear and disappear on its own without pressing any remote control button. I told him to check for dry joints at the CPU/EEprom area and also Crystal pin. I told him also that it may be the problem of corrupted data in EEPROM IC. I have suggested that the CPU also could cause such problem.

Few days later he emailed me and thanked me that he had solve the problem and it turned out to be a defective CPU IC. Please take note on this.

    Hi Dibyendu,

Yes you are right the front panel switch also may cause such problem. If the switch stuck/jammed then it may affect the OSD performance.

    Hi Keith,

May i know which components that you want to test? It seems that DCA55 could test and identify more components.
