You are right. The extra pin is used for the loudness knob control circuit.

I wired it to the board as it should be, following the circuit and removed the 2x3 pin. Many thanks for your comments!

I take it that you just replaced the stereo 2 x 3 pin potentiometer and added it to the 8 pin input connection/the 8 pin adapterboard, or just wired the connections in such way without any board if that adapterboard was not there anymore. Thanks for sharing.
