Parasuraman, I know it would be very impractical, but it would be interesting to just resolder one joint at a time to see which one was the real culprit. Care to give it a try sometime? Keep up the reports. Close-up pics are a help.
I would like to know what IPL is also.

Easy job not really special in contrast to all previous much more complex repairs but also successfully done! Keeping the air clean is a must when soldering fumes are produced. I use a special Fan with an active carbon filter in front of it to reduce the pollution generated. I am a no smoker and want to stay it that way! When I look at that previously clean new carbon filter after a few months and after a few soldering tasks it shows a large white/grey area where the fumes entered the carbon. So happy that this didn't enter my precious lungs! It probably would be even better if the fumes where extracted from my room by some airpump system to the outside. But those are more expensive and take up more space for the compressor air hose attached to the soldering station. Why I often take my soldering tasks when I can to my balcony on a good dry summer's day and do the work in the outside open air.

Well done Sir. Just for clarification... what is the IPL solution you used to clean the board? Is it a derivative of IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol)?

soldering joints a really fun stuff to do just make sure you are working in a ventilated area when doing this amount of soldering. I built my own fume extractor and working amazingly so far. have a blessed day
