Many thanks! There is a resistance method for testing ICs and other circuits as well. If on a board, we have to discharge all the electrolytic capacitors and then perform the test. For example, for testing an IC off the board, we have to compare the resistance from each pins between each other with a new one. If there is drastic difference, the IC under suspicion will be defective. Similarly if we have a stereo audio, compare the resistance at each stage between left and right channel. That can help us pin point the defective stage. For this purpose, we need to check with black probe to ground and then red probe to the ground (i.e., reverse) to know the difference. It is an effective way.
